About the Author

Joe Flickinger is a native of Cincinnati Ohio.  He was raised on the western side of Cincinnati amidst all the growth and building of subdivisions that the area experienced in the late 1970's and 1980's which piqued his interest in local history.

Joe attended Xavier University majoring in History and minoring in Secondary Education.  One of his most significant achievements in college was researching and writing the previously unwritten and undocumented history of the Bridgetown Cemetery.  He accomplished this as a research project for his Bachelors in History.
Joe is employed as a History Teacher in a local High School.  He has taught mostly grades 9-12 for over 19 years.  Joe counts as achievements his Local History elective which he created, as well as establishing an AP European History class as well as an AP Modern World History class.  Joe has taught a wide variety of subjects, including US History, World History, AP European History, AP Modern World History, Local History, Senior Social Studies/Civics, Contemporary Issues, and an Ohio Graduation Test Prep course, geared towards preparing 11-12th-grade students for the Ohio Graduation Test.

Joe earned a Masters in Educational Administration from Xavier University in 2006.  Joe also earned a 2nd Masters in History from Southern New Hampshire University in January 2019, concentrating in Public History.

Joe maintains memberships in the American Historical Association, as well as the National Council for History Education, The Organization of American Historians, the American Association of State and Local History, the National Council of Public History, as well as the Green Township Historical Association, and the Colerain Historical Society.  Joe also serves as the Vice-President of the Green Township Historical Association.

Joe and his wife have three beautiful children.  They make their home on Cincinnati's West Side.
